Roger Williams MP for Brecon and Radnorshire has today asked for local residents to further support the Save our Post Offices campaign. Mr Williams said "We have had tremendous support for this campaign and so far we have received in excess of two thousand Save our Post Office post cards which I will be delivering to the Prime Minister in the next few weeks. I will also shortly be meeting with the Royal Mail to discuss the imminent announcement on the future of post offices in Brecon and Radnorshire."
The postcard campaign follows up the MP and Kirsty Williams AM campaign earlier last year where they collected in excess of two thousand names on a petition to save the post offices which were handed in to the Government.
Roger said "The support I have received with the current campaign has been incredible; however this is our last chance to influence the decisions. I hope the Prime Minister will realise just how important this issue is to the residents of Brecon and Radnorshire. The Post Offices are an essential part of community life. We cannot stand back and allow this to happen. "
Powys County Council Liberal Democrat group leader James Gibson-Watt has tabled a motion calling on the council to oppose all further closures of Post Offices in the county and I and my colleague Kirsty Williams AM strongly support such a move. There needs to be a united stance on this issue across Powys.
Save our Post Office postcards are available across Brecon and Radnorshire in Post Offices and local shops. For further information please contact Roger's constituency office on 01874625739.
