Candidates to become the new leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats will contest five official hustings as part of the selection process, the party announced today.
The hustings will take place in each Assembly electoral region, while avoiding the home constituencies of either candidate who has declared an interest in running.
Dr Alan Butt Philip, lead European Candidate, will chair four of the five hustings (except the one in Aberystwyth).
He said: "I'm sure members in every region will be keen to see the candidates debating with one another, and like me, will want to hear the arguments.
"Every paid up member of the Welsh Liberal Democrats has an equal say in the choice of leader, so these hustings could have a major impact on who succeeds Mike German when the votes are counted in December.
"Having an all-female contest for the leadership is a first in Welsh and British Politics - and a rarity across Europe! Lapsed members, or supporters who have never taken the final step to become members, can still join - all members signed up before November 1 have a vote in this historic election."
