Kirsty Williams AM for Brecon and Radnorshire has welcomed the announcement that the long-term future of the Brecon Jazz festival has been secured. The Minister for Heritage has today announced that Hay Festival has been selected to run the Brecon Jazz festival in 2010.
Kirsty commented: "Whilst is clearly disappointing that there will be no Brecon Jazz festival this year I am delighted that the long term future of the Festival has been secured.
"It is also great news for the community, local economy and jazz lovers that the Hay festival is proposing some small scale Jazz events throughout 2009.
"The Jazz is an important cultural event both for Brecon and for Wales as a whole and is essential to the local economy. People come from all over the world to experience the wonderful atmosphere of the festival and it is certainly something for us to be proud of locally.
"Hay Festival has an international track record in delivering successful festivals and I wish them the best of luck with Brecon Jazz."
