'TEMPORARY' POST OFFICE CLOSURES A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT - ROGER WILLIAMS MP

Post Office Ltd has today announced that, due to the resignation of the subpostmaster at the Post Office Presteigne branch, three branches will close. Post Office Llangunllo service and Post Office Norton service will close on Thursday 30th April with Post Office Walton service closing on Tuesday 23rd June.
Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, said
"I am deeply disappointed by the recent Post Office Ltd's announcement.
"It is a huge loss for these three rural communities and, as yet, no alternative provisions will be made by the Post Office at these locations.
"The nearest Post Offices to Llangunllo are Knighton, which is 7 miles away, and Presteigne, which is almost 9 miles away.
"The closure of so many valued local post offices is a bitter blow to those communities, many of which are already suffering from a lack of accessible public services.
"For many of the people in these three communities having no service is unacceptable and I will be writing to Post Office Ltd as a matter of urgency imploring them to provide at least a mobile service immediately until alternative provisions can be arranged."
