Kirsty Williams AM for Brecon and Radnorshire has led a delegation of Powys County Council representatives to meet with the Minister for Health to discuss proposals to merge Powys Local Health Board with the County Council.
The Council are due to take a decision on the proposals on the 23rd September and Kirsty succeeded in securing an urgent meeting with the Minister prior to this date, on Tuesday 15th September.
The delegation comprised: Cllr E Michael Jones, Chair of the Board; Cllr Rosemary Harries, Portfolio Holder for Social Care; Cllr Les Davies, Lib Dem Group Leader; Cllr Mike Hodges, Conservative Group; Cllr David Jones, Independent Shire Group; and Cllr Sandra Davies, Labour Group.
Kirsty Williams said: "This proposed merger is a very exciting project and offers an opportunity for the residents of Brecon and Radnorshire to shape the future of their health and social services rather than having them imposed from the centre.
"We had a very positive meeting with the Edwina Hart and I will be looking closely to see the outcome of next Wednesday's decision."
