Osbornes proposals are Lib Dem Lite Williams

Commenting on George Osbornes address to Tory party conference, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Wales Roger Williams MP said:

This set of deficit reduction proposals is just Lib Dem Lite.

The sum total George Osborne is proposing to save amounts to nothing more than a drop in the ocean and will not in any way deal with the structural deficit the UK faces.

What is more, George Osborne has in effect guaranteed that these policies will merely pave the way for a return to traditional Tory politics hitting the public sector now to pay for tax cuts for millionaires later.

Only the Liberal Democrats have made a commitment to bringing public spending under control whilst making taxes fairer across the board, including ensuring that all those earning less than 10,000 per year pay no income tax at all.
