GOVERNMENT LEGISLATING TO COVER UP FOR BROKEN PROMISES - WILLIAMS

Commenting on the Fiscal Responsibility Bill, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Wales Roger Williams MP said:

"This really is a pathetic waste of time and an insult to people's intelligence.

"The Government has failed to control the deficit because of its poor record, and they are perfectly able to reduce it without a Bill. What we really need is detail on how they plan to reduce the deficit.

"The Government is now having to enshrine their fiscal targets in law, as no one trusts them after years of broken promises."
