Roger Williams MP for Brecon & Radnorshire has sent his congratulations to Llangattock Green Valleys Project for winning the Welsh Final of the British Gas Green Streets Competition. The Llangattock bid was selected over two other Welsh finalists for an ambitious scheme that engages the whole community. The project has the potential to significantly cut the carbon footprint of Llangattock.
Roger said "Llangattock Green Valleys Project is a shining example of everything I believe in regarding how we can combat climate change. We all have a responsibility to do our best to reduce our carbon footprint. I switched to a hybrid car and installed solar panels at my home. But this project goes further. The hydro electric scheme along with the use of solar panels on the village hall and the auditing of homes to make them more energy efficient could have a dramatic effect on reducing the carbon footprint of Llangattock. Local schemes such as this are going to play a vital role in combating climate change. I am truly inspired by this success story and know that the money which they will receive from British Gas will make this dream a reality benefiting all in the community. I would also like to encourage all those other communities who entered the competition to continue to pursue their projects."
