AM's delight at Llandrindod Wells Renal Dialysis announcement12.00.00am GMT Mon 30th Nov 2009 Commenting on the news that both Llandrindod Wells Hospital and Welshpool Hospital have been chosen as locations for two new dialysis units in Powys, Kirsty Williams, AM for Brecon and Radnorshire said: "This is great news for Powys' patients, and a real tribute to all the local campaigners who have worked so hard to get the new unit located in Llandrindod Wells. "Access to renal dialysis for patients in Powys has been totally inadequate and these two units will make an enormous difference to the lives of our patients, so many of whom currently have to travel excessive distances for treatment. "Sighting the dialysis unit in Llandrindod Wells Hospital will provide fair access for all residents and will also help to secure the future of this important community hospital. Thanks must go out to everyone who made this campaign a success, and especially to the hard work of James Chapman." Notes
The petition read: "We the undersigned welcome the recognition by the Welsh Government that the current provision for Kidney Dialysis treatment for patients in Powys is unacceptable. That Powys has been identified as a top priority for a new Kidney Dialysis Unit. That we support the sitting of the Unit at Llandrindod Wells Hospital as this location provides fair access for all Brecon and Radnorshire residents."
